KYODO / Tuesday December 16, 2:22 AM
The government has decided to earmark 90 billion yen to 100 billion yen for a missile defense system in fiscal 2004, down sharply from 142.3 billion yen as requested by the Defense Agency, a Japanese business daily reported Tuesday... the reduction is due to the yen's appreciation.......The government will hold a meeting as early as Friday and confirm its plans to introduce the missile defense system, which is composed of U.S.-made missile systems

So would taking out N. Korea be more expensive than this system, thus rendering it useless?

North Korea isn't the only arrogant bully swinging nuclear boom sticks. Think of North Korea as the convenient excuse for deterring China.

Hmm. A combination of Aegis and Patriot? Patriots don't have that great of a range, and you'd need a shitload of 'em to guard the coastline. It'd be nice if they could get the bugs worked out of THAAD (Theater High-Altitude Area Defense). They were working on it when I was stationed at Bliss 5 years ago and I think they still are.

Either that or get the White Sands people working harder on THEL (Tactical High Energy Laser) to blast the fuckers out of the sky.

Not an echo as far as I know. :)

I was at Bliss from Oct. 96 to May 98. I did Commo as well (31U, SINGCGARS) but Abernethy Park isn't familiar. I was in 5/52 ADA (Patriot) and later on at 11th BDE HQ.
