I never noticed this while I was in the new Minato Mirai subway but it sounds CREAPful enough for me....via the dottocomu blog:
"A glimpse of the future: interactive ads?
.....an experiment into interactive advertising in the new Minato Mirai subway linking Tokyo's Shibuya with Yokohama: it will have a system set up in a concourse tunnel that detects pedestrian movements via a brace of TV cameras and uses the information to alter the images (art, local information, and advertising) projected on the tunnel walls..."

Haha, that sounds like Tom Cruise's Minority Report movie. Everytime he walked by a multimedia lightbox ad, it addresed him by name. Not far fetched if you have a keitei with GPS tracking or bluetooth. The ad companies could pay bucks to get the customer list with numbers. They could then conform their ads to stuff you've purchased with your phone or credit card. Good afternoon Bejiita-san, today only, Laox is offering a buy 1 get 1 free DVD for the erotic adventures of Tanuki-Badger! :fresse:

The more interesting part is which ad will come up if you have two or more people walk by who have opposite tastes. Will a virtual fight break out between the Suntory and Asahi ocha bottles? :?
