There is no planet between Mars and Jupiter, just a load of space rock known as the Asteroid belt which has thousands of these rocks, most of them were discovered in 1804 which makes the great Japanese scientific space discovery about

200 years too late!!

About 40 percent of primary school students believe the sun revolves around the Earth, results of a recent survey revealed, indicating a lack of astronomical knowledge among children.

The survey was conducted in February by a group of researchers led by Hidehiko Agata, an assistant professor belonging to the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, and surveyed 116 students in Japan

daily news journal about asteroids, comets, and meteors.. .Namings: Yomiuri Shimbun has an article today tells how Main Belt asteroid 7892 Musamurahigashi (1994 WQ12) in the May 6th namings was given a shortened form of the name of the now closed Musashimurayama-Higashi High School where co-discoverer Masanori Hirasawa once taught. It is one letter short of the 16-character maximum length for asteroid names.
