Japan's first (sort of) smartphone

Fujitsu's been doing some tests with a consortium of hardware manufacturers to iron out compatibility issues and make sure that voice over wireless LAN works as it should, so it perhaps shouldn't come as a surprise to find Fujitsu Laboratories have developed a wireless VoIP phone. Plan is, it'll come in Windows CE.NET 4.2 and Linux flavours, have a Compact Flash slot on the back into which you can whack a PHS or 3G cellphone card for data and VoIP when you're out and about, and have 100 hours of standby battery life. It's supposed to be out in the autumn of this year, though the handsets shown in the photo are still mockups.
