Using a PDA as a mobile dictionary and Kanji learning tool

Postby cstaylor » Sat Jul 06, 2002 9:09 pm

Okay, I just resurrected my old Palm V (American version), and a friend mentioned that you can wipe the ROM and install the Japanese version of the OS. Has anyone else tried this?

BTW: I also have a Compaq iPaq that I originally bought for this purchase, but the iPaq is very fragile (and CE is unreliable), so I want to stay with Palm devices for now.

Okay, partially answered my own question...

There aren't any IME's for english Palm OS (as far as I can see on the web), but KingKanji is available for english Palm OS, so at least I can practice my Kanji on the train...

Next task is to find a software-replacement for my jisho... might need to bump up to a Vx or 515 Palm for something of reasonable use.
