Kyodo via Japan Today:Temple Univ Japan designated as 'foreign university'
Temple University Japan, which had been a miscellaneous school under Japanese law, was designated Monday as a "foreign university," allowing its alumni to apply to public graduate schools in Japan, the Tokyo branch of the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based university said. Temple University Japan has become the first foreign university's branch in Japan to be accorded the status by Japan's education ministry, under which its course credits will also be recognized by Japanese universities. The Tokyo branch of Temple University was established in 1982, and currently has about 2,100 students in Tokyo, Osaka and Fukuoka. About two-thirds are Japanese.
