foreign plants

anyone know of a place selling imported plants? in particular i'm looking for a colorado blue spruce (pungens hoopsi) and a cedar for my hedge. not sure of the acutal name for the cedar but in japanese it's called nioi hiba.

had a guy i was dealing with for trees but he's become a total flake recently and is pissing me off so i'm looking elsewhere.

I highly doubt you'll find a specialized plant store for what you're looking for :smoking:

No, but seriously J government (or any country's) is very strict about importing non-native species of plants and animals so if you don't see the particular plant at a nearby plant store, you're not going to find it anywhere.

The only things that you can import that are foreign and will reproduce are hostesses!

imported plants

Postby james » Mon Nov 28, 2005 5:57 pm

i occasionally see catalogs selling imported plants. how legal in origin they are i don't know but that's how i got the three sugar maples i have now.

an acquaintance of mine from california sent me seeds (had all the paperwork) and customs didn't take them, guess i could ask him to send me some and try my luck growing from seed.

and if anyone here is free in the spring of 2062, i'll be tapping for my first batch of maple syrup.

I'll be 90 in the Spring of 2062... Assuming I haven't yet croaked or left Japan count me in! (They say only the good die young...so I guess I won't have croaked yet anyway!)
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death
