filing cabinets

Postby james » Fri Dec 17, 2004 12:48 am

this might seem like an odd thing, but in all my shopping here, i've never been able to find an affordable, proper filing cabinet. i'm not about to part with Y90,000 and buy some aluminum monstrosity from the kokuyo catalogue. all i'm looking for is something simple like a 2 or 3-drawer vertical filing cabinet in either black or wood.

something like this:

http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/cat_sku.asp?CatIds=104%2C120,121&webid=573655&affixedcode=WW

willing to buy used or new if the price isn't "inflated for japan".

would appreciate either direct offers or links to places selling something similar.

Find your local secondhand shop as you can definitely get something cheap there.

maybe it's because of where i am (shimane). you'd think something as mundane as a filing cabinet wouldn't prove to be so elusive. it's not like it should be different from the rest of japan where everything gets filled out and stamped in triplicate and filed away.

guess a worst case scenario is i buy the one that i listed above and haul it back myself. looks like it'll fit in my check-in luggage unassembled.

I also live out in the boondocks, and honestly there is the mother of all second hand shop off national route 11 as you come into the city. Filing cabinet are sold there cheap. I think if you look around in the outskirts of most major cities you should be able to find a good big secondhand shop that sell that kind of thing.

Just order some Banker's Boxes, they're cheaper, and much more practical than filing cabinets unless you do filing all day long. You can order Banker's Boxes that have pull-out drawers, stack a few up and it looks like a cardboard filing cabinet. Plus you can seal them up and store them away, or ship them.
