Crap for sale:

Postby james » Tue Jan 15, 2008 2:49 pm

Arright, I'm trying to get rid of stuff that I simply don't need / use anymore to clear out space.

More to come, but I wanted to get this up first:

1. Star Trek Video collection. Includes:
- Star Trek Original Series Collector's Edition (VHS - all 3 seasons)
- Star Trek Animated Series (VHS - all episodes, some unopened)
- Star Trek Movies I through VI, Generations, First Contact & Insurrection (VHS)

I'll include the shelf (comes apart easily) if wanted.

Image

more pics here

Y3,000 o.b.o for the whole lot.

2. Rupo Wordprocessor - includes DOS text conversion util, 2 extra font sets, all manuals and some B5 word-processor paper. Working.

Image

3. Other stuff (description / pictures forthcoming in an edit).
- high chair, sturdy and in excellent condition
- text books (japanese beginner level, chinese, russian, korean)

Feel free to make me an offer on any of the above. I don't expect much for most of it, but since I'm not using it, it may as well go to someone who would. I just want the space.

My grandmother used to keep spider plants, wikipedia says they only get to 15 inches long, but that is bullshit, because the ones she had often had leaves or fronds or whatever the fuck as long as I am tall, hanging down from the cieling wherever they were hung. I hated the bloody things. Always felt like they were crawling on me or something.

I also can't stand the Japanese (including my wife unfortunately) tendency to have a billion plants growing all over, inside and around the entryway.

What type of person thinks something like this looks good?
Image

And then the best bit is those horrible little planters. My wife does this. We actually have a little patch of dirt in which plants could be grown, and instead there are planters sitting on top of dirt witht he plants in the planters... Plus planters piled on every spare centimeter of concrete around the dirt patch, and piled high on old rusty nasty looking tables, etc.

The possum has me beat though. My mother in law has tons of those creepy decrepit Japanese dolls around though.

Good point! I happened to run over a few plants conveniently placed in styrofoam while pulling in to the in-laws' place over the weekend. It was great! ;)

You can send a rat up there and then claim that the attic needs to be exterminated---meaning that all of that shiiet will have to be removed. Just a thought... :D

well unfortunately, now i don't have to "claim" it.. at least not by much.. all i have to do is play the pipes and lead the rats / mice from downstairs to upstairs in the attic..

i do like your approach though.. hmm.. that could definitely work for sure!

We had rats living in our crawlspace at one point. Loads of fun. Total 15man to finally be rid of the little fuckers...

Rats and mice are pretty common place. We got two of those electronic gadgets for a couple thou that you plug into the wall socket and they disappeared over night and have not been back.

I'll try to find one and post it if Mulboyne doesn't beat me to it.

yeah, being out in inaka, rats - well these are probably field mice actually, are not uncommon. i'd gladly pay 15 man if it meant getting rid of all the shit in our house. hmm.. do the gadgets work on large rats? say a somewhat large rat about 13 years old that almost looks like a dog?

It's called PestX and my wife bought in through a sales flyer a couple of years back, I think it was around 8,000 yen. There are many pros and cons espoused, but we have had good luck, even with aburamushi (jirochan) and we live in the mountains and have everything from bears, boars, deer and goats (slurp).

Although the model here is a bit different, this is the UK version...

We ended up paying so much mostly because the first exterminator we hired was inept.

The best part is the whole reason we had rats in the first place.

Our apartment is above my father in law's plastics company warehouse. The apartment is old as dirt, so before we moved in we had some construction done, in particular swapping out the hole in the floor for a nice western toilet. To get at the piping they had to go through the warehouse ceiling. Well after opening a big ass hole in the warehouse ceiling to get at the pipes they didn't bother to close the hole again, so we ended up with a hole in the ceiling of the warehouse which ran directly into our subfloor and thus inside our walls and up into the crawlspace above our apartment.

The best part was, once we found how the goddamn rats had gotten in I called the construction company and had them come out and fix the damn hole and their reaction was something along the lines of, "oh, you wanted that hole sealed back up did you", as if this was some added feature they had given us for free. Fuckers.
