Monthly Mansion recommendations?

Postby GomiGirl » Wed Jul 26, 2006 11:20 pm

Help!! I have been trying desperately to find suitable accommodation for my parents who will be here from September until the end of the year.

They are looking for a comfortable 1 LDK or thereabouts furnished with all the basics including a double bed - they are in their 60's and Dad has just had a hip replacement so getting up and down from a futon is not really an option.

Needs to be convenient to the Hibiya line. Would prefer around Ebisu but at this stage we would consider anything.

They are quiet non-smokers and very reliable - very unlike myself.

Budget is up to ¥200,000 per month.

You would think that this would not be hard but all the monthly mansions that I have looked at on-line have either been shoe boxes of 15sq m or HUGE and expensive serviced apartments. There doesn't seem to be much in between.

Please help with any suggestions or recommendations.

Alternatively they can offer a house swap with their gorgeous and HUGE waterfront 3 bedroom house at the Gold Coast in Australia.

I can put them up at my place for a bit but as much as I love them dearly, it would be way too cosy to have them with us for four months!!

I stayed in a MM in Nishi-Koyama for 3 months, and despite the cockroaches de jour, it wasn't that.....bad. That it was in Nishi-Koyama made it relatively cheaper than if it were in Ebisu or Meguro. I think the company's name was Tsukasa and that they would rent to me (at that time, seriously FG'ed, more so than now) spoke either to their dire financial desperation or generosity to mankind.

For some reason I can't seem to find their link, but here are a few others (they're in Nihongo only).

I like this one especially (G-Style....they supply you with handguns):

I stayed at the Ningyocho branch of Space Design's "B-Site" chain of monthly manshon for a month while I was apartment hunting a few years back. Very nice neighborhood, and a few minutes walk from the Hibiya line (but quite a ways up the line from Ebisu). They have some rooms in your budget range, but possibly still "shoebox" size in that price range. On the other hand, very modern and clean, and include high speed internet, if I remember correctly.

An old/cheesy info-mercial I made a few years back for B-Site:

Other places from Bureau, but more for home/office setup:

That's all I know of now.. Will let you know if I find anything more..

I'd give the folks at Oakwood a call...I think they can (but not always and not at all properties) work reasonable deals, esp for longer term stays. While not on the Hibiya line, I think they have been having a hard time keeping their Shirokane property filled (probably because its a bit off the beaten trail, but I actually like that, it seems like it is a fairly quiet and normal neighborhood). I had a very large studio for two months and beyond the fact the upper floors sway pretty hard during tremors (its one of those 15 story pencil buildings, and since I was staying for a 'long' period, they thought they would do me the favor of sticking me on the 2nd highest floor for the better view), I had no complaints at at all about it.

The Bureau in Ginza and Shinbashi are owned by Merril Lynch (Don't know about other locations) and in my previous company whenever we had someone visiting from the US they would be put up there. From what I heard, they are expensive but very well maintained and professionally managed (with English speaking staff to boot). The size of the apartment may be an issue though.
Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms should be the name of a store, not a government agency.
