Second Working Holiday Visa (UK)

Postby Ghost » Tue Mar 26, 2013 9:43 am

Has anyone had any experience (from the UK) applying for a second working holiday visa? Ive heard in the past of people managing to snag 2 or even 3 WHVs but was wondering if that was just bullshit and if anyone here has actually tried getting a second one.

Im thinking of applying for another one but Im not sure how likely it is that I will successfully get one or what the risks are of applying for a second one, my previous WHV was 10 years ago so is that likely still on file, would previous visa information be stored on my passport chip? Lastly what would be the better route to go down, apply in the UK or in Japan? Im heading to Japan next week and will be staying for 3 weeks.

Japanese immigration is pretty slack if you're white and from a first-world cuntry (or even a one-time industrialized cuntry like Brutain).
I got a second WHV that expired in 1991 and Immigration is definitely more accommodating now than it was then. Apply and try your luck, perhaps banking on a tourist visa (or some other status) if you miss out.

I have known people who have done it. They conveniently "lost" their passports and had clean shiny new ones when applying for the second WHV. No guarantees but it is worth a shot. The worst they can do is say no right?

You are still under 30 right? This is the top age limit for WHV IIRC.

I somehow doubt that the chip in your passport is writeable, and certainly not by anyone other than the issuing authority.

I do recall that Japanese immigration started using visa stamps with QR codes on them around 2004, so it's possible older data may not have been collected/filed in the same way, but who knows.

I suspect you can only apply at the Japanese embassy in the UK.

Give it a go - it can't hurt. WHV are the best if you can get them. You can work, move around and employers love them.
