Hey everyone, thanks for all the advice and funny posts. Coligny, you're a funny guy.

So, the company has become very afraid of being sued again. They have lost several court cases last year, and they being sued by two other people this year. They will most likely lose these cases has well. They are pretty freaked out that I am asking question about payment.

I think I will head in to see a lawyer on Monday, and you know, even if I don't win the case it will be satisfaction enough the jam them up.

I agree. I have no problem with a company saying that a 9 o'clock start means you're at your desk and ready to go at 9 not walking into the building. However, when they start saying that means you have clock in at 8:45 but you aren't on the clock till 9:00 they can suck my dick. As long as I'm ready at start time it's none of their business how long it took me to prepare.

I worked for a Japanese company for a short time that had a time clock on the first floor of the building. My desk was a few floors above that. Since clocking in at 9 meant you weren't at your desk on time, if you didn't punch your card by 8:59 it meant you were late and they'd actually dock your pay by a minute or something silly like that.

When I was teaching business English we had one client that required us to arrive 15 mins early so HR could let us into the training rooms where the classes were run. My company tried to argue that it wasn't reasonable since they weren't paying for that time but the client refused to budge. I agreed since I didn't think it was that big of a deal. One day my train was a few minutes late so I arrived 10 mins before the class and those HR cunts actually made a complaint to my employer.

Before spending money on a lawyer have the labor office call them. They can't enforce anything or take sides but they will let your employer know the complaint was registered and let them know what you want. That might be enough to scare them into agreeing to your demands or offering a satisfactory compromise. Especially if they're already dealing with other lawsuits.
