DJing jobs in Japan?

Postby Greener » Sat Aug 23, 2003 7:16 pm

I'm wondering if there is much opertunity for DJ's to work the clubs and parties in Japan. Any help in the right direction would be appreciated!

Japanese singers, by and large suck, but Japanese muscians and Dj's are top knotch. If I wanted to make some money spinning here it would be some really sweet house stuff heavy on english vocals and gospel like samples (they love black gospel), or some progressive trance. I would leave the break-beats at home.

Of course I hate break beats

Tiny's Tim's is like the poster boy for old show-people (yea I know he's dead), they are a strange bunch. I'll probably be just like them when I get old.

Uke's suck! But the instrument I hate the most is a freaking Clarinet - OMG I could kill when I hear that nasty nasal sound.

I would guess that there would be many chances to DJ in Japan at a club if you have the skills and know a little Japanese. I would guess that a tape and a resume could get you in....I doubt there are professional DJ placing services. Probably need to hit the asphalt.

That sounds interesting. I'm pretty much a progressive house/trance DJ by and large, (with a little electroclash mixed in for fun.) I wish there was a way to send MP3's of my mixes to Japanese clubs or promoters. I hear the Japanese and HK club scene is pretty rocking.

there are tons of djs in tokyo. A friend just did some giging there for a couple months. Hes a great salesman on his skills and he has a few records out, so that probably got him in. Competition looks tough there.

Hey there,

It has taken forever but I am finally in position to send out demo CD's. If anyone knows of any DJing jobs in Japan, I am still very, VERY interested in spinning in Japan.
