Google Japan is Hiring.
Google is opening a research and development center in Tokyo, Japan. We're looking to hire talented software engineers, top programmers and visionary computer scientists. The team in Tokyo will mirror Google's other engineering offices, with the same scope of work, hiring standards and unique Google culture.

Even a handy page on how to submit your resume.

Same here. I can't be arsed to type out a resume but if you wanna give me a good job just send me a pm and I'll let you know where to send the checks. BTW, I've used your search engine millions of times so I should have no problem with your 'unique Google culture' or any other cultlike demands you might have.

It's worth pointing out at any interview with google.com that whilst there search engine is adequate, it doesn't support document clustering like Vivisimo.

In a recent recruiting drive, google limited it's search to target people driving along route 101 in the Silicon Valley area with a billboard containing a cryptic clue to the website here.

Whilst casting the net within a targeted area acceptable for a lazy-arsed HR department, it's a tad hypocritical to say that you're an information search company whilst limiting your search to a very conventional and predefined boundary.

I can hear the Google Inc. PR patter now "But we think outside the box ... ". Well you could always answer that with "No, you don't think outside the box as evidenced here. No, you've instead become a rather stale corporate cashcow."

But that might not get you the job of course :biggrin2:

Report: Google to expand R&D center in Japan
By CBS MarketWatch
Last Updated: 8/22/2004 6:33:00 PM

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS.MW) -- Google plans to expand its influence in Japan with a research and development center in Tokyo and new services tailored for Japanese users...
.... is opening a R&D center in Shibuya, Tokyo -- its third outside the United States, according to a report in the Nihon Keizai Shimbun business daily.
.... instead of translating and converting English-based services into Japanese, the center will develop search engine software and content specifically for Japanese users.
Google's Japanese unit employs about 40 people, the paper said.

Google opens Tokyo research center
InfoWorld
TOKYO -- Search-engine provider Google (Profile, Products, Articles) opened a research and development center at its Tokyo offices this week, the company said Thursday.

The center's role in Google's global R&D network is yet to be defined and will be shaped by the people who are hired to work there, Howard Gobioff, the center's engineering director and principal engineer, said in an interview. Gobioff is one of two engineers currently working at the center, and said their first job is to recruit additional members. Three people have already been found although none have started work yet.

In terms of what?

Hubris.

(Now don't get me wrong: Google provides a great service. But the folks there think they are the Anointed. If hubris were an Olympic event, they would have swept 2004.)

Oh... I was afraid of that.

I am actually on a quest to reduce my Hubris levels.
Working for google would be counter productive to my Mahayana enlightenment efforts.
