Residential tax - late hit

Postby adgruite » Wed Aug 10, 2005 6:20 pm

Hello,

I was living in Japan for 12 months from Feb 12, 2005 until Feb 28, 2005. I was paid monthly 12 times.

Before moving to Japan, I had heard about residential tax, and was under the impression that it was only payable if you left after more than 12 months. I have just been hit 6 months later with a bill for 400,000 yen. Does anyone know anything about this? Is this right? I'm suprised that it has taken them 6 months to pay.

I need to do something about this because I am working for the same company.

Thank you

Alex
