That said, there is a general question you need to answer regardless of the type of business you plan to set up: What can you provide to the Japanese market that local businesses can't? You need something big enough to overcome your "gaijinness" in order to have any chance of success.

Anyway, best of luck to you, I don't know much about hydrodynamics but in aerodynamics CFD is definitely the way forward. I know Japan is big in powerful collective computing (earth sim et al.), maybe you can hook up with a research institute or university that has this kind of firepower at its disposal and is looking for new ways to implement.
