Well, I don't think teaching "the MATHS" is going to be in your future either.
There may be some restaurants or bars that would hire you even with minimal Japanese-ability. Take a look at the listings on CL.
Or, you might want to get a portfolio of professional photos together and canvass the various talent agencies in town that hire foreigners for modeling and extra gigs. The posts on this siteprovide some good basic information and advice including which agencies (especially the ones to avoid such as the infamous Inagawa Motoko)
