Question about peak season job postings

Postby the mapmaker » Sun Feb 09, 2014 5:36 pm

Hey guys. Since you're pretty much the only reliable source of info on the web about these matters, I'm back with another question regarding job-hunting. Basically, I've been applying through Gaijinpot, a few craigslist postings, Interac, Berlitz, and anywhere i can find for jobs in Kanto starting this spring. GaijinPot seems a little sparse of ALT job posting, but i have applied to any i could. I want to teach elementary school, junior, or high school. I don't mind living an hour or so away from tokyo in chiba, kanagawa, or even saitama, but not much further than that. And I don't want to teach preschoolers. they're cute, but too much active watching all day, and lots of throwing up. not my cup of tea... I would even work for a decent Eikawa if they were reliable and the conditions are good. Berlitz is an example of this.

right now i live in nagano, and have a visa good through august of 2015.

so here's my question:

Have any and all job postings for ALT jobs already gone up?

I seem to have conflicting sources. some tell me yes, they have. some tell me they won't go up until the end of february, and then there will be a lot more when people decide whether or not to renew their contracts/ not get invited back. another source told me Eikaiwas post job vacancies around that time, but the ALT jobs are already up. so what is the truth? is there a surge of job postings to come between late February - early March? or is this all there is?

Please no sarcasm or negativity. Just realistic info on the issue at hand. Thanks in advance for any responses!
