hmm.. reminds me of something I learned during my old Japanese film student days. In the postwar occupation, films were strictly censored and prohibited from showing kissing. Eventually the absolute ban was lifted, and in 1947, Kurosawa was allowed to film a scene showing a kiss, which was released with much publicity just due to this one daring, previously forbidden scene. He chose the kissing scene as the climax of his film Subarashiki Nichiyoubi (One Wonderful Sunday).
So my J film professor got ahold of a copy of this film and I borrowed it. I sat through the whole dreadful, tedious film, waiting for the notorious, historic final kiss scene.. and finally, here it comes.. the kiss is hidden behind an umbrella.
