Tokyo Broadcaster Puts Shows On YouTube

Postby Mulboyne » Tue Aug 29, 2006 6:57 pm

[floatr]Image[/floatr]Asahi: Tokyo MXTV posts programs free on YouTube
A Tokyo local TV broadcaster started Monday posting its TV show on YouTube and other Web sites that offer free videos...The move runs counter to the stance of many TV broadcasters that see such sites as a threat to their business...However, Tokyo Metropolitan Television Broadcasting Corp. (MXTV) intends to use the Web sites to expand its viewers, sharing its programs with people around the world. The regular broadcast range of MXTV is limited to 8.5 million households in the Tokyo area. It will post BlogTV, a 30-minute program that introduces writers of popular blogs and discussions of topics picked up from blogs. The program will be put on the Internet every Monday, three days after the land broadcast at 10 p.m. Friday. Three video Web sites, all operated by U.S. companies will have the shows uploaded: YouTube, Google Video and Revver...more...

Cool! I used to really enjoy MXTV.. Then I moved to the other side of the hill; no reception anymore.. Not sure I'd watch it online though. It was nice pause for channel surfing, that's about it..
