[/floatr]A ZakZak entertainment report (Japanese) on the the film 88 Minutes quotes a distributor bemoaning the fact that his efforts have been hampered by the actor not being available to promote the film whereas someone like Johnny Depp will appear to fans at the drop of a hat when he has a new picture out. The report mentions that Pacino, along with Julia Roberts, tops the list of Hollywood stars who rarely visit Japan to support their work. However, the headline to the article says Pacino dislikes visiting (来日嫌いアル・パチーノ). I immediately clicked on the link to discover what traumas and indignities he had suffered on previous occasions but details there were none. It seems the conclusion has been drawn simply because he doesn't visit, irrespective of the fact that he doesn't go anywhere very much. In interviews, he has often explained that he is a private person who doesn't enjoy meeting the press so it's more likely that he is avoiding the promotional work rather than the country. The struggling promoter probably decided that there's no such thing as bad publicity. In barely related news, here's a picture of a Japanese Robert De Niro lookalike:
