Luska Times: Japanese government donates Project X tapes to ZNBC
Information and Broadcasting Services Minister Ronnie Shikapwasha has hailed the Japanese government for its efforts to enable Zambian National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) enhance its programming in the country...Lieutenant General Shikapwaka said Japan is a reliable ally that has endeavoured to develop the Zambian media industry. Lt. Gen Shikapwasha said this in Lusaka today when he received a donation on behalf of ZNBC management dubbed Project X from Japanese Ambassador to Zambia Hideto Mitamura. The donation which consists of 21 episodes of Japanese Television tapes programmes entitled Project X was acquired for ZNBC by the Japanese Government through the Japanese Cultural Grant Aid. Lt-Gen Shikapwasha urged ZNBC Director-General Joseph Salasini to widely advertise Project X so that the Zambia people could appreciate and value the contribution from their Japanese counterparts who have advanced in technology. Project X is an highly international acclaimed production that covers wide range of medical documentaries, agriculture, construction and technology which features how Japan managed to recover and attain rapid economic growth after the devastation of the Second World War determined effort done by Japanese...more...

I wonder if this donation will feature in an account of Japan's use of "soft power".
