Bunraku: The Movie

Twitch: Bunraky Review
Wildly ambitious and visually inventive, Guy Moshe's Bunraku plays like the bastard child of Seijun Suzuki and the Wachowski Brothers with a dose of A Clockwork Orange, a dash of classic movie musical, a healthy portion of film noir...more...

Gackt is in the cast.

Hmmm, the title of the film is based on a 400-year-old form of Japanese puppet theater that is best known as the second most boring performing art on the planet.

You know. "Gackt" is what your cats do in your shoes when you are not looking.

FYI, Gackt is one of the herd of J-boys that look a lot better in drag than not.
In drag, at least, I'm sure Gregi would do 'im, maybe other FGs too...

As a male, nothing special - to see him play a samurai might be interesting, but a stretch...

Actually... the last 250 times Lanxade (zee french one) took a leak in my shoes, she did it right in front of me, while looking at me straight in the eyes...

Yeah, I'd much rather see someone do Buraku: The Movie (Kurosawa, Kon Ichikawa and plenty of others already did that, though...).
As for puppet theater on celluloid (probably video, actually, but...), I doubt anybody will ever go beyond the artistic achievements of Team America: World Police: Puts the autuer into naughtier (fuck the spelling, it's phonetically close).
You're right, too, about bunraku being the second most boring performing art on the planet...behind noh, of course.

No, just after Noh. I have been afflicted with Bunraku once and what kept me awake was the sheer determination to not fall asleep until most of the Japanese man did. They speak in such a stilted antediluvian Japanese absolutely no one can understand them, and like Noh the 'action' drags on, the experience can be likened to listening two farmers from the depths of west Yorkshire yammering on and on about something.

Great minds! I believe Noh was named by the response people gave when asked if they ever wanted to sit through a second performance.
