This deserves it's own thread...

On another tangent, the rule for translating movie titles appears to be stick something about love in there , no matter what the title was .

From Japanese.about.com ...

I'm sure it goes both ways but it's just reaching soooo hard to inject a little more Japaneeeeeese into it all and make it more appealing here. I guess I'll look at the bright side...the JAV potential here is strong.

I'm sure it goes both ways but it's just reaching soooo hard to inject a little more Japaneeeeeese into it all and make it more appealing here. I guess I'll look at the bright side...the JAV potential here is strong.

Well Sugar Rush is the name of video game in the movie.

I know...but the story revolves around the main character...Ralph....hence why it's called "Wreck it Ralph" and not Fix-It Felix Jr. (Wreck-It Ralph's game) The Japaneeeze CM for it even focuses more on the the cute girl and Sugar Rush than the US CM. The cutesy shit and adding AKB makes sense, business-wise, not arguing that...just find it hilarious that they went as far as to change the name to SHUGAALASSHU.

Remember Ocean's 11 and the Mini Cooper commercial chase scene? Obvious marketing at play there and fine, it fit what what they were doing...but they didn't change the title of the movie to Mini Cooper Rally

Are you sure you aren't thinking of the "Italian Job"? That had to be second the most ridiculous case of product placement ever. The first being:
