Oh no! Korean dramas with ridiculously contrived plots are set to take over Japanese dramas with ridiculously contrived plots! Whatever shall we do?

If you've seen the Winter Sonata series - I can't avoid it as my wife has the DVD set ( ) - you'll remember the scene where the heroine's fiance Sayaku is pissed off at her because she is in love with Bimyou who looks just like (and really is) her presumed-dead ex-boyfriend Chunsan san. In an attempt to express his misogynistic barbarity, he kidnaps his fiance, takes her to a hotel, gets liquored up then tries to rape her. And she was with the multi-felony criminal the next day in the story.8O

When explaining my repulsion to my wife, her reply was "Sanyoku mo taihen." Ok, ok. I'll admit that it is taihen being a mysogynistic asshole, but still... </rant>

Thankfully my wife isn't into that... we're busy reliving our childhood through recently-released famicom games for the Gameboy Advanced SE.

Balloon Fight anyone? ;)

Did you read the Google translations for the before and after pics on this site? They are friggin' hilarious!

On Hamasaki Ayumi:
Then there, the technique is simple, you gild Ayu in a furnace thermostat 8 and you let roast until obtaining a crust color "lobster". Then, you take one decilitre of tar which you spread out over a toothpaste to apply to the false-lashes.

On Yukie:
Would be necessary to have shit in the eyes to deny the surgery!

On Mi Kitty:
The nose was remakes with the graver, the new eyelids were ordered on ebay.com. Photoshop is the sponsor of all its photographs.

On Takako:
If you should choose one aesthetic surgeon, choose that which succeeded in obtaining this result. It is pure magic, or of the surgery to very the bone! All was changed!

I don't get why plastic surgery matters to anyone, more power to them. (Michael Jackson excluded). What I do hate is fake boobies, those are just gross.

The magazine was just capitalizing on the flavor of the week, I don't think the intent was Korean bashing. The name Winter Sonata on the cover and the promise of dirt inside is going to move magazines.

My 2 cents

I think I have to agree with Howard Stern when it comes to fake boobies--I don't mind them much at all (unless they are completely disproportionate in size and are so big they look bizarre).

South Korean Plastic Surgery For Permanent Smile?
huffingtonpost.com | 2013/08/21
...
the AONE clinic in South Korea is responsible for the procedure, which gives the patient the appearance of a permanent smile. Dr. Kwon Taek Keun, the clinic's founder, spoke about the "mouth corner lift" surgery in 2012 at a yearly international convention for plastic surgeons. Here's how he described the results of the procedure on the conference's website: "Mouth corners lift up very naturally after surgery, and although mouth corners stay upturned on an impassive face, they lift up even more distinctively during a smile."
AONE's YouTube video (below) details the surgery, dubbed the "smile lipt" (a combination of the words "lift" and "lip"), and its presumed benefits.
