KILL BILL Vol.1 Japanese Box release dvd

Postby kidrock12xp » Tue Apr 27, 2004 1:28 am

I saw that a special release of kill bill vol.1 was coming out in japan. I read somewhere that the movie would be uncut and would have some extra video on it compared to the one shown in the theature. I was hoping that someone would be able to clarify this for me. Thanks and have a great day.

Nope its the same as the theatre release, the Japan version is uncut and has some extra bits compared to the US/Europe release. The extras on the DVD are shit though and Miramax are releasing a special edition later in the year (near xmas) so if I hadnt already had bought the limited box set I would wait for that.

See my comments inthis thread. I was pretty disappointed with KB vol. 1, so I won't be buying the box set.

It's definitely not one of QT's best films. Doesn't have the cool dialogue, or great acting, of his other films.

The use of Japanese language was too gratuitous and disappointing. Sitting in a Tokyo movie theater surrounded by Japanese people listening to Uma Thurman and Lucy Liu struggling through their Japanese lines was an embarrassing moment for me. And why would two people from America be speaking Japanese to each other anyway?

The wire action was fake looking and overdone. We've already seen wire action in so many films (Matrix, Crouching Tiger, etc.), and the wire action in Kill Bill seemed gratuitous and over-the-top compared to the others. It just seemed too unlikely for Uma's character to be able to do such acrobatics.

I agree that Uma's feet are ugly. Too much film time spent on her gnarly big toe.

Great action, and I also liked the use of non-linear time progression. I guess I'll go see volume II, but only because I don't like the waiting after a cliffhanger.

As ultra knows quite well, I'm really not much of a movie snob/critic, and I couldn't tell you which director is "hip" to bash at any particular time. If you look at alphablaze's comments in the other thread, you'll see a good example of a movie snob who likes bashing "mainstreamers"

That's cool. Uh, wigger? You're sure you're not confusing me with <name deleted>? :D
