Vinyl record shops?

Can anyone reccomend any cool vinyl record shops in Chiba or Tokyo? So far I've found a handful in Shibuya that are nice, like RecoFan.

I'm really looking to buy up a lot of Enka on vinyl for an experimental breakbeat Enka comedy album.

Anybody on here DJ at all?

Plenty of old film posters and records, but of course it's pot luck on the day.

Yeah i've been dj'ing for a bit now and making my music since i first got Atari 1040 STE and never looked back.

I will be in Shibuya and Roppongi in October and i'm really looking forward to going again, i'll ask a few friends about the location of some good record shops, i know there are many in Shibuya i know you already know that but i'll post the addresses up anyway.

Are you looking for only breakbeat and techno or do you take a fancy to any other styles ?

i shopped at the Cisco Stores in Shibuya (around Tokyo Hands...) They have like 3 or 4 stores, each dedicated to a specific genre of dance music. I shopped at the techno one and i have to tell you that it is one of the best stores ive been to. They carried anything techno sounding from IDM to hard techno and electro. (my dj genre being german labels of the minimal variety.) Well stocked in both old and new stock. Cisco also has a store in Shinjuku... across from the station in that mall with the big screen.

Shinjuku has millions of record shops (or at least did in the 90s when I was living there). Go to Nishi Shinjuju 7-chome and just wander around. You'll find well known indy music shops like Vinyl and Rough Trade and shops with thousands of bootlegs, shops with very rare stuff, dance stuff, dub and reggae, etc. Just wander around. A music fan's paradise...

The best record stores I have ever seen in my life were in Shinjuku. I'm sure that's a subjective measure given you particular tastes and wants, but there seemed to be a whole record store part of town. I found a store of exclusively 60's French pop. The best one though was divided over 3 locations and simply called "Vinyl."



I only visited once a year ago, so here are totally shitty vague directions --

North of Shinjuku station
you want to be West of the tracks
you want the first street going north west of the tracks

I took this coming from a different direction, but I believe it is just north of Shinjuku station, facing East (if you were looking at this you'd take a left here) --



A few blocks down the street you'll see the first stores "Chicago antique records" on the West side and "Young" and "Allman" on the East. Further down on the west side you see a sign for "Tiger Hole" records and further down on the east side you see a sign for "vinyl" records. Anyway once you are in this part of town I'm sure you can find more stores or ask for more recommendations based on what you want. The more I walked around the more stores I found. Sorry if the directions suck. I spent hours wandering around and took those photos to try to help remember, but I definitely had no idea where I was going.
