A former child actor known for his role in a popular samurai film [based on the Kozure Okami series] in the 1970s was sentenced on Tuesday to three years in prison for smuggling a handgun into Japan from Thailand at the request of a woman. The ruling handed down against 36-year-old Akihiro Tomikawa by the Tokyo District Court fell short of prosecutors' demand by one year. He faced charges including violation of the law on firearms and swords.

I used to get the willies when Daigoro in the "baby cart"would open up on the bad guys with an organ-pipe style machine gun hidden in the front of his carriage. Baby drive-by!

Wow, that was one of my favorite shows when I was a kid. Seeing his picture when he was a kid, yeah, I feel bad...but he knew it was illegal.....nothing happened to the woman? She got off free? That sucks

The Daigoro in the TV show was played by Kazutaka Nishikawa and I think one other actor appeared too. In fact there are a whole bunch of Daigoros out there including the kid from last year's "Kozure Okami Final":

And not forgetting the cameo by Brazilian football star Ronaldo in the 2002 World Cup
