As pioneers of modern design, Charles and Ray Eames shaped America's 20th Century. Together, they created furniture and later expanded to other design work that responded to the era's social improving social standards and represented the rapid industrial development.
Organized by the Vitra Design Museum in Germany and the American LIbrary of Congress, this retrospective exhibition of the Eameses has been traveling around the world since 1997. Organized into six sections, "Life", "Furniture", Space", "Culture", "Science" and "Beauty", the couple's furniture pieces, as well as original plans, prototypes, video works and even their close possessions will be on display to trace their achievements and contributions to postwar America.
