Bob Sapp in slightly less-exploitative role

Postby jingai » Sat May 28, 2005 7:56 am

Looks like Bob Sapp got himself into the latest Adam Sandler movie, The Longest Yard. I thought I saw his svelte physique in a recent trailer and this NY Times review confirmed it. Hopefully he gets better speaking lines here than he did in Japan! "Bob Sapp, BEAST!"

It looks like it will be just a blip, and then he will return to making garbage, or nothing at all....

If the cover of the script said "Written and Directed by Jean Claude Van Damme" I wouldn't even bother opening to page one.

I must beg to differ, I saw extended clips of the new Adam Sandler movie, and Sapp is in there like a really big doofus. Basically he's the big dummy of the prison who can crush your skull by accident and then go, "oopsy, did'em me make'em mistakey?? duh....!" so the only difference in this role is that he's more docile dumb, than menacing dumb.

funny thing is, I've seen interviews when he's not acting and the guy sound pretty clever/articulate to me.

Bob Sapp stays in the same Tokyo hotel I use (several floors above, of course) but I've see him around holding court and he comes across as a very smart and decent guy.
Yes, I was eavesdropping.

I've been meaning to post this for the past two weeks.

I just never got around to it.
