Just found this thread. I used to watch the old Dr. Who on PBS with my dad when I was kid (up to the Tom Baker stuff I think) and love the new series.

I thought Ecclestone was great as the Doctor and was really disappointed when he "regenerated", but I like Tennant as well.

I watch the spin-off Torchwood as well, and it's not terrible although it has quite a different feel from Doctor Who and sometimes makes a good arguement for the whole supposed overly agressive BBC liberal/gay/minority conspiracy.

Possible spoilers:
[hide]It's rumored that this is Tennant's last season as the Doctor as well and that the Torchwood cast will change with the even the (arguably) main character, Captain Jack, leaving the series.

This is what happens when my wife is away in Europe visiting her sister and I don't have work or anything else to keep me occupied. I read a thread in an Internet forum on Doctor Who and end up spending 3 hours surfing the web looking at various Doctor Who related crap.

When I first saw Rose, I thought to myself, "oh god, she's a Chav." And that line was actually uttered in the series, an alien takes over her body, she looks in the mirror and says "oh god, I'm a Chav." But I grew to love Rose.

Now I'm two episodes into the 2008 series, I just don't think I can warm up to Donna. I want a young, hot, cheerful companion, not a middle aged, cranky companion.


P.S. you missed the really hot pictures of Billie, from "Diary of a Call Girl."

She was a bit "chav-ish" but overall she was likeable. I'm not fond of Donna either (personality-wise), but she's rumored to not be around for long anyway.

I think I mentioned this before.. when I first saw Billie on screen, I thought she looked so chubby that I checked the aspect ratio on my screen to make sure the picture wasn't being stretched horizontally.

Jeez, everybody's raving about how great Moffat's episodes are, but I thought some of those (like Blink and Empty Child/The Doctor Dances) were the worst shows in the new series. Davies' episodes were much better.

I liked the 4 he's done that have been broadcast, but he always seems to make things in to a bit of a mini-horror/thriller movie, so I imagine the overall tone of the show would change quite a bit if he's in charge of every episode.

I like Davies' episodes (as writer) as well, but he hasn't been doing most of the writing lately anyway. I thought a few of the more recent episodes have been the worst yet in terms of writing (the two sontaran episodes and "the Doctor's Doctor").

I admit I avoided the show like the fucking plague, I thought it was some cheap, humorless version of trek with lame ass props. There's a dustbin shaped thing with a toilet brush stick out screaming "exterminate" "exterminate" in like a mentally disturbed shakespearean impressionist. I always thought how the fuck can people watch this shit ?!?


Anyhow I'm getting into it now
and it must be one of the best shows out there (excluding the other Brit show Topgear)
