Mainichi: Plagiarizing painter plummets from grace
And this on Sughi's profile in the art world:...Wada was born in Mie Prefecture in 1940. In 1971, he received an Italian government scholarship and went to study art in Italy...
He is virtually unknown in Asia and the United States, though his name does carry a certain amount of value in Europe. Until the exposure of Wada's wickedness, Sughi was unheard of in Japan. "There's probably not a gallery in Japan where you could buy one of Sughi's works. He does sell some work in Europe for about 2,500 euros (about 350,000 yen). His newer works are apparently appraised at a higher value than his older stuff," a Paris-based Japanese art journalist tells Josei Seven. "In Japan, there's no way Sughi could command some of the prices that Wada gets. Mind you, that might change a bit now given recent events."
