You guys remember Ziyi Zhang from crouching tiger hidden dragon? She totally dropped off the Hollywood radar and attributes it all the roles she's approached for being exactly the type of stuff RK is taking. Such as?

Ryoko Hirosue would have been far better. Hell, this wasn't a really deep role either, they could have totally gone for a hot actress, regardless of shitty Engrish and talent.

RH would have been completely miscast.

The only Ryoko that might have filled the bill would be Ryoko Yonekura, however, she's probably too old for the role.

Doubt she'll run into any of her FG critics while she's there cashing her cheque.

Another wonderfully build argumentation...

"Derp, makes a muney... can't be wrong..."

Unlike Froggy art-house movies, it's not a sin for a movie or actor to make a profit.

How is that not a challenging role?

I recall reading that she learned sign language to win the part.

That took some effort...but like many of her other roles, there is a ton of silent looks off into nowhere. I just don't think she's an amazing actress or hot.

You might not have liked her acting but doing that role well is certainly a challenge.

As for roles, well, Academy Award winner Ryoko Hirosue [a good actress, btw] is currently acting in a light entertainment J-TV comedy series called "Starman".

Academy Award means Oscar unless you qualify it with something else like Japanese.

Zhang Ziyi is currently acting in art-house films such as "My Lucky Star".

Which aren't Hollywood movies which is choko's whole point. You're very good at supporting the opposing side's argument.

You would have to have serious basic reading comprehension problems to reach such a conclusion.

Right . . . so what is Zhang Zi Yi lastest ground-breaking role in a major Chinese movie?

Yet another dragon-lady kicking man-butt in a gravity-defying kung-fu historical costume caper.

That's it? Having lost the argument, that's the best invective you can come up with?

Which only shows that you're just a f-gaijin that couldn't think his way out of a rice paper bag.

Still better than RK....my whole point was that virtually anyone hotter with ANY talent would have been better.

LOL SJ

IOV - (at least from a Chinese view) it's a historical movie. She's playing a role that has character (while plenty cheesed up with kung fu) that doesn't focus on her being the token sexy/exotic/mysterious/chingrish speaking character like the roles she claims to have refused thus far.
