How much more stereotypical Asian female role can you get than her role in The Brothers Bloom? She probably had all of 5 lines in the entire movie. Even in Babel, was her role that challenging? I liked both movies but it definitely wasn't for her acting. I mean, she's done well for herself financially and whatnot but I think it's mostly because she's willing to take those kinds of easy roles and the western market still eats them up. You guys remember Ziyi Zhang from crouching tiger hidden dragon? She totally dropped off the Hollywood radar and attributes it all the roles she's approached for being exactly the type of stuff RK is taking. IOV - (at least from a Chinese view) it's a historical movie. She's playing a role that has character (while plenty cheesed up with kung fu) that doesn't focus on her being the token sexy/exotic/mysterious/chingrish speaking character like the roles she claims to have refused thus far.
