The curry from these types of boxes isn't all that good or real ...

the closest i've got to Indian curry in Japan was in a small lunch time place close to my office in Gotanda, it was run by a very nice Nihonjin and his wife, they made food 95% similar tasting to what you'll get in a resto in India. And no, the Indian restos in Japan arent very highly rated on authentic/real taste.

Very true. In my experience, except for a couple of places, most of the Indian restaurants in Tokyo/Yokohama serve japanized versions of curry and other Indian dishes. It is extremely difficult to find authentic Indian Cuisine here.
