Nam June Paik, the "Father of Video Art," former zainichi kankokujin, graduate of Todai, member of the Tokyo Fluxus art movement, has passed away.

This is truely a great loss. I'll never forget his exhibit at the Gugenheim a few years ago.

I saw the TV exhibit at the LA County Museum of Art about 10 years ago. I think it might have been a permanent part of the museum for a while.

Yes, that's the original TV Flag artwork, I visited it many times. I heard that the LACMA exhibit has died, the TVs burned out and cannot be replaced as the manufacturer has gone out of business.

Anyway, I wrote a little homage to Nam June Paik and TV Flag on my blog. I studied with Paik briefly back in the 1970s when I was in art school and I'll never forget it.
