[floatl]Image[/floatl]Kyodo via Yahoo: SKY Perfect, JSAT in merger talks
SKY Perfect Communications Inc., Japan's largest satellite TV service provider, and JSAT Corp., one of the biggest satellite operators in Asia, have begun negotiations on integrating their business operations, sources close to the companies said Wednesday...SKY Perfect is Japan's largest provider of paid satellite TV through its SKY PerfecTV service. JSAT owns nine satellites and leases them to broadcast service and other companies. The two companies will attain the ability to control the entire range of satellite broadcasting services -- from operating satellites to providing broadcasting platforms -- if they can integrate their assets. But the merger could dilute competition in the satellite broadcasting market, industry watchers say, and their moves to integrate may therefore face scrutiny by competition policy authorities.

Naa, what's a little monopoly? Just so long as they don't mess with "Midnight Blue" and the "Flamingo Channel", I'm with em!
