The Future of Eikaiwa?

Postby Caustic Saint » Wed Mar 29, 2006 5:28 pm

I'm not sure, but this type of lesson may be just what the Eikaiwa industry needs to boost class attendance and attract a different kind of teacher.

What do you think?

Well, attracting a 'different kind of teacher' is definately what the Eikaiwa Industry needs, but it never did, and never will. It always has been a 'Soap Land type of business and always will be. As for the teachers? They will always be there, ready and willing, until the enjoyment, novelty, money, etc. runs out.

The title on YouTube was "strange english lesson." I've googled around for it but haven't been able to come up with it anywhere else. :(

Childhood sex offender seeks a second chance
Detroit Free Press, March 28, 2006
.....DuBuc says her status as a registered sex offender has led to harassing phone calls, ugly on-campus confrontations and rejected job applications. Managers at McDonald's, Burger King and Subway have told her they don't hire anyone listed on the registry.
Frustrated in her search for minimum-wage work, DuBuc has spent her college summers volunteering at a Guatemalan orphanage and taught English at a church in Japan.
"I'm blessed," she says, "that God doesn't do criminal background checks." ....more....

In the fall of 2004, I was flipping channels and I found a program I think was called Alis Engine on Fuji TV. It was on fairly late at night and was a non graphic sex ed program but they kept referring to sexual terms in English. On the part of the show that discussed the G-Spot, I found it interesting that they only used US coins to 'size' it

NOVA raided after complaints over missing tuition fees
Mainichi
The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government have conducted on-the-spot inspections at major English-language school NOVA, it was learned Friday, after ex-students complained that they hadn't had their tuition fees returned after canceling their contracts.

Among the allegations NOVA faces is a violation of the Special Business Transaction Law. If NOVA is found guilty, it could receive an official order to improve its business practices or have its business activities suspended.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government is also reportedly investigating the language school on suspicion of violating a consumer affairs ordinance....more...

Thats typical of the eikaiwa industry as a whole. Dumb luck that nova get fingered, they all have their own versions of not refunding.

Wasnt there a coke bust with some nova teachers earlier this month?
