Satisfy Your Injured Girl Fetish

Wani Books has just released a new book of Kegadol - idols sporting bandaged arms and eyes. This appears to be a cross between the meganekko (girls with glasses) and mask fetish shots that are already widely available. Bandages are a popular part of some goth loli outfits that Taro has already posted here several times. Wani Books say their collection puts a "moe" spin on this trend.

While these sort of things can have any number of sources/orgins and there is always the chicken or the egg question, I think some of it is a result the character Rei Ayanami in Neon Genesis Evangelion, who is injured several times during the series and she then appears with a bandaged eye, arm, and chest. More than a few action figures/toys of Rei have sported the injured look, so it must have its appeal to some audience.

Wow, I'm really impressed GG. Here all this time, I thought you were just one of those cheap crepe paper floozies! I didn't realize that you really got it going on. Please accept my sincerest appologies and a couple of rolls of Charmin that I'm sending you as a late Ochugen!

You are spot on Kuang Grade. The press release for the book mentions Rei but I didn't understand the reference before seeing your post.

Eye Patch -- String Type
Almost everyone has an eye infection or disease at some point [in Japan], and for that reason eyepatches are a common sight. Recently eye-patches have become a staple in anime culture as well, with eyepatch wearing characters appearing in such anime as Neon Genesis Evangelion, Battle Vixens, Lone Wolf and Cub, Fullmetal Alchemist, Bleach, D.Gray Man and others, where an eyepatch adds something mysterious and distinctive to the character...more...

Mainichi: Latest Akihabara geek fetish? One-eyed virginal maid mummies
Japan's otaku geeks have turned their attention away from eyeglasses and maids to focus on kegadoru -- literally translated as "injured idols," who are scantily clad pretty women wrapped in bandages and wearing eye patches, according to Weekly Playboy (9/3). "The otaku industry is now focusing on kegadoru rather than the old staples of girls wearing glasses or surgical masks," Takabo, who calls himself an otaku idol researcher, tells Weekly Playboy. Nonoko, who works at a popular maid cafe in Tokyo's geek sanctuary Akihabara, agrees. "Girls who get decked out in Amaloli (cute, pink or white frilly 'Lolita'-style outfits) have started covering themselves in bandages and wearing eye patches," she says. "Many of the men who come to Akihabara often compliment us on how good our bandages look, or how cute they are. For girls hanging out in Akihabara, bandages and eye patches have become a must-have fashion item"...more...

I don't recall my careers counsellor mentioning that occupation.
