[/floatr]The Asahi is excited (in Japanese) about the restoration of film which they are calling Japan's oldest anime, dating from the Taisho era. This is slightly surprising since three years ago they announced that an even older Meiji Era anime had been found. The restored film is the one originally thought to be the oldest and the very fact of the restoration seems to have brought on this bout of Alzheimers. The Asahi link also has an image of a 1918 anime which could be interesting if only a higher resolution was available.
