I remember seeing this book when I was first in art school (was that 30 years ago, already?) and was astonished at the unusual, practical, and artistic wrappings that seemed as if they were from another world. I never forgot it. Today, many of these packaging methods are a lost art, even in 1965 they were falling out of practice. This book is a time capsule of dying arts, and introduced Japanese folk artforms to a Western audience. It was wildly popular back then, and now it is back in print. I recommend it.
