Good Japanese TV

Postby GuyJean » Sat Mar 07, 2009 10:06 pm

I couldn't find a related thread, although I know I remember one at some time..

I've been setting my HDD to record 'The Making' every weekday at 6:45pm, on local TV:

Very much like an old, basic version of Discovery's 'How it's Made', except there's not a narrator; just video of each step in the process along with subtitles of what's going on..

Most items are 'uniquely' Japanese; the other day, they went through the process of how they make a 'Go' board. (I think they use the same board for Shoji, no?)

Anyway, I think it's good entertainment on Japanese TV..

This really is a cool show.

I used to watch it every day, but I think they've stopped showing it in the Kanto area (please correct me if I'm wrong).

Brings out the ubergeek in me.

Tetsuwan Dash is my favorite Japanese show ATM. IteQ is ok. My wife watches a comedy show in which performers have to make 5 audience members laugh in order to win $10,000. I'll be on the lookout for The Making.
Spare a drink?

I used to watch "The Making" all the time but it disappeared from SkyPerfecTV.
Recently my building has been offering the free ITSCOM cable channels (which is the free method for a building to make the conversion to digital TV) so now I can watch "The Making" at dinnertime. Thanks for the heads up!

NHK's BS programing is "good entertainment" too!
