Heavy Censoring in Japanese AV's

A buddy of mine who visited Tokyo brought back an adult magazine that had a couple of dvds with samples from JAV's. I expected the genitals to be censored by pixelation, but the male actors were completely covered in pixels. Why the heck have they started using this much censorship? It's distracting to see the actresses apparently being screwed by a mass of pixels.

Anyone know why they're doing this?

Mid, what I'm talking about, is the guys are so heavily censored, the pixels sometimes obscure more than just the dude, and cover up part of the actresses as well. That's what I'm finding puzzling.

It's not really censoring in the official (JEJA) sense of the term. I think it's more Yaks, who don't want to be recognized or crap like this.

It's usually in very low quality studio/production. Also for the 'fetch a bitch' movies anonymity might help, but I'm not sur this argument make sense... (f-a-b are movies where they supposedly ask random girls in the street to go for a humping ride in the back of a van in exchange for quick muney/expensive goods)

Yes, it's true. Most Japanese DO NOT want to see the detailed vulva. There was a polling done I saw on some online site and having spoken with many Japanese men, I am NOT generalizing, but given the fact that AV have always been censored, you can't miss what you never had. Which makes it even more so of a sensitive issue for many Japanese men. Yes, there are small back alley AV shops popping up all over the place that DO sell non-mosaic boot-legged videos, but for the rental versions and average over the counter AV's, the mosaic still remains.
