The paparazzi captured him with his katana on the way to sword practice.
And apparently a British fashion designer will be making costumes for 100 monks, 50 samurai, 16 prostitutes and 15 concubines.
That should be interesting....

Chris Morgan, the guy who wrote "Fast and Furious" for Universal and co-wrote "Wanted" did this script for the upcoming 47 Hollywood Ronin.

With a little make-up and push of luck he may fit the movie. He looks a bit asian if you use your imagination :D he has some hawaian and chinese blood to begin with :)

Anyway i bet he will do better than tom "the last samurai" cruise.

Also i can not think of an hollywood action movie about japan or far east, without ken watanabe in it. :D they do it for the box office, but i hope the popularity of the cast wouldnt ruin the movie.

According the always reliable Wikipedia

he does have some Asian blood:

. . .his father is a Hawaii-born American of English, Irish, Portuguese, Hawaiian, and Chinese descent.

I knew he was part Hawaiian/Chinese/etc, but for all practical purposes, he's a white guy.

Just how Barack Obama is half white, but for all practical purposes, he's black.

Statistically speaking, aren't the chances of a "haafu" even being in Japan, much less becoming a samurai at that point in Japan's history almost completely zero?

explains why he would be a bandit...

killing all the samurai protecting a village, then go to the supply area and drink all the booze, then go shag all the women in the village...

he's my role-model

Very sorry to tarnish my image on this one IPU, but I was drunk in a cat house in Yoshiwara on that day, so it couldn't have been me.

According to the IMDB page, Akenbono is going to be in it too. Now all they need is Bob Sapp to round things out.

Keanu was on the Colbert Report (Youtube) flogging his 47 Ronin. His clip showed him in a true "Samuri" fight at the 23 sec mark...

Anyone else watch this? Curiosity got the best of me....

They managed to make Tadanobu Asano and Rinko Kikuchi look like Koreans, Japan look like China/NZ/Thailand (they filmed it in Europe...WTF?) with all kinds of weird giant buddha statues, elaborate multi temple castles, and mountain scenerary that looked like LOTR. Was a really shitty version of the story and the whole injection of Keanu "halfbreed" Reeves was unnecessary and took up too much of the focus (though arguably, the racism in the movie was probably the most accurate cultural point they hit on)

Basically, it was a really shitty, hollywood stylized version with a huge budget (the CGI was kinda neat?) that pretty much had no rhythm. The best part was at the end, under the year-round sakura in the castle, talking about how "Ako" will be great once more....when they basically gave no background nor showed any reason why we should give two shits about Ako. (To be fair, the IMDB page says it was hacked to all hell and one of the main characters was cut pretty much out of the whole movie...sounds like they had their shit together, eh)What a waste of time/money this shit was...

I saw mythical monsters in the trailer I watched and knew I was out. It all looked like Kill Bill without the benefit of Quentintonian lame hipster hyper-reflexive parody. It sounds like they really F'ed up a perfectly good legend.

It's funny how well Last Samurai has aged: that Ninja attack on the village is 11 minutes of pure samurai cool, the initial battle pretty good too, and his diary monologue while in the village quite evocative if a touch twee.

Aruguren-san, Ohashi jooozu desu ne.

Yeah, you have to put in some real effort to fuck up the story here....and then inject a "half breed" whitey character in it so the audience can...wait wtf was the point here? My guess is the initial cut was even more heavy on the injected whitey bullshit and after they realized how far it was from the original story, they hacked out as much of it as they could....and it's just missing so much.

Due to studio interference, the film saw several script changes during filming, and a radical re-edit during post-production. The part of Yorick van Wageningen, who originally had a significant supporting role as Kapitan, was cut back to a silent cameo due to these decisions.
