Is anyone else getting annoyed by these "news" sites like "Business Insider" which are popping up and rewriting second-hand news with! added! drama! and getting quoted all over the internets as gospel truth?

Business Outsider wrote:Japan and China - war soon?

- by Douchebag Hipster, Silicon Valley

Japan and China could come to armed blows over counterfeit shark fins, if the current crisis escalates beyond a mere exchange of words. East Asian security and anime expert Professor Bruce B. Bruce warns that all options for a military intervention could be open to both sides, and has not ruled out the possibility of a nuclear exchange should the US be drawn into the conflict. Speaking at the Outback University of Dingo Studies' annual Ikebana exhibition, Prof. Bruce outlined a scenario in which Prime Minister Abe's bowel problems flare up again, coinciding with Chinese Communist Party General Secretary Xi Jinping developing a paranoid psychosis leading him to give credence to reports about laser-armed Japanese sharks. "It would be 1937 all over again", warned Bruce, who went on to outline how the region could quickly slide into chaos if Japan reconstructs the legendary battleship Yamato and sails it up the Yangtze River.

According to local media, as yet no shots have been fired in this nascent conflict, however tensions remain tense throughout the region.

... continues for many further lines of baseless speculative drivel ...

YES YES YES!!

Journalism or the excuse for journalism that these sites perpetuate, is woeful. There is no editorial oversight, no fact checking and no follow-up. It is all in the interest of publishing quickly or getting on the bandwagon. News has become memes. God forbid you get on the wrong end of a "scandal". :noose:

"is batboy turning vegetarian ?"

"High priority warning: bigfoot might be gay, not just the foot are big and there is no lube in the forrest"

"Alien on nervous breakdown after accidentaly rectal probing Lindsay Lohan, one quoted as saying: 'it's not human what we found down there' with report coming in listing: stolen jewelry, dead small animals wrapped in condoms, and drug parapharnelia, DoD spokeperson had to report that area 51 will be closed for several month in order to decontaminate and upgrade aliens workplace, Mulder and Scully said to have resigned out of solidarity"

Nope, not the same people....

Making false news: Fox News with risk of legal action against them.

business insider is more into Making bullshitt twist over real news for cheap clicks... but i can totally see them doing it for share prices manipulation...

I'm pretty much sick of news in general. BBC has a decent track record I think though.

Not for protecting children from a serial sex offender and trying to bury the story.
