Postby Samurai_Jerk » Fri Apr 24, 2015 9:13 pm

Here's a documentary about the 1300 year old Hoshi Ryokan which has been run by the same family for 46 generations.

This can be preserved, but a new model of business needs to be adopted. Not impossible, but some flexibility is required...

Boycotting documentaries as I am I read the Daily Mail article instead
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/travel/travel_news/article-3015085/Keeping-family-Inside-historic-Japanese-hotel-run-family-1-300-years.html

Lovely looking place, shame their son died, best of luck to them. Now, onto pet peeves: is there something about articles on Japanese Kulchur that mandates badly written, rambling tosspot fawning? At least the article didn't rely so heavily on the Changing Japan trope. That one drives me batty.

Japan is Changing!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Japan is Timeless!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, which one is it ferfuckssake!!????
:wall:

Rant over. Apologies in advance.

If you stagnate in a changing world, from the outside it might look as if you were changing?
