Musings on language through Final Fantasy VII translation

Postby jingai » Sat Apr 20, 2019 11:58 pm

An American who came to Japan 20 year ago did an interesting side-by-side of the Japanese and English versions of Final Fantasy VII, analyzing the language with its missed nuances, errors and sometimes odd stylistic choices. It turned into more than that with his wry humor, asides on language, and tales of life in Japan, which made it interesting to me. This is the last part of the series, so if you like the concept, check out the other episodes.
