'You gotta have WA' redux

<<Japanese highschool baseball rules include...>>
 They line up, take off their hats and bow before entering the field. They run, not jog, to their positions between innings. They run as fast as they can to first base even after hitting an easy infield grounder.
 Chewing gum or spitting on the field - unless it's necessary - is out of the question.
 The rest will wear numberless uniforms with their names handwritten on the front in large characters.
 Until the seniors retire from the team, freshmen don't get to practice inside the fenced field. They pick up small stones on the field before older players begin practice. Once the practice begins, freshmen get off the field and run around it.

Anti-Giant dilemma

Postby ramchop » Tue May 06, 2003 3:54 pm

Baseball question:

It must be easy to be a rabid anti-Giant if the team you support is in the Pacific league. However, if you're in the Central league, for your team to do well you may on occassion need the evil Giants to score the odd victory.

For example, the Hashin Tigers need to be reigned in. As a burgeoning anti-Giant how do I watch such a clash without feeling uncomfortably conflicted?

As both a rabid anti-Yankees/Giant, I can only wish them losses since my team the Central league's Carp as as lovable losers as the Chicago Cubs from whom they 'borrowed' their logo...

May Hoshino come, kick down your door, and force you to sing "rokkou oroshi" at the point of a colorful balloon.

Dang.
The Reds were founded in 1869, 1882 or 1890, depending on the account but are generally thought of as America's first professional baseball team. The Cubs were founded in 1876. Both teams used their full name in their logos until WWII.

But hey check out the Yankees capImage vs the Giants' capImage
