Okay...I didn't know about any of that stuff. It's interesting to learn about stuff like this. If someone I know over here dies, I thought I knew what to do from past experience in England. But alas not.

If I die, i'd rather not have all this crap surrounding my death. No dis-respect to the japanese or anything but it is alot to do, and I would rather not put my friends any family throu the hastle. Nope, just brun my body and feel free to use my ashes for practical jokes! :D

Gotta agree with that sentiment. That or the Tibetan option, feed me to the vultures (suppose they'd have to settle for crows in Tokyo)

Though there are less hasssle-free ways to hold funerals. The Japanese way sounds easier than what the Buddhists do in Vietnam (and China?):
step 1) bury in shallow grave
step 2) let the worms do their business
step 3) go to the grave and dig up body (has to be at night!)
step 4) scrub the bones to remove grissly bits
step 5) place bones in an urn in a small tomb
