Lord of the Rings Trilogy

Postby Big Booger » Fri Oct 17, 2003 10:48 pm

I wonder if Japanese theaters will follow suit with American cinemaplexes and release the trilogy in sequential order for serious fans on the first day?

I read that the tickets sold out for the trilogy run in 1 hour or something like that, and that the online sites were not able to cope with demand for the tickets..

Anyone know how it will work once it gets to Japan?

Sold out? And I never even heard about this until now. Little internet research shows that most locations are sold out but not all.. seems my local theaters don't have anything at all on fandango for trilogy tuesday, yet the information online seems to suggest all regal cinemas are participating, so perhaps the smaller theaters don't all have showtimes posted yet (and possibly tickets being sold?)

How much are they charging for this - three full tickets, or some kind of discount? And I hope they're going to offer reasonable intermissions. I can't imagine tryng to "hold it" for 7-8 hours.

The way it was stated made it sound like most of the major theaters and online venues are sold out..

The tickets ranged in price from 25.99-39.99 depending on location. I really would like to go see this in Japan, but I am wondering if they will release it like that.. imagine 6-8 hours of LOTR!!!!

I wonder if it will be specially editted and seemlessly reeled? Also I sure hope they have an intermission. :D

The tickets are going for $500+ on ebay:

Well, I know regal is charging $35 for it.. seems a bit steep, regular movie prices are only $8.50 and you're seeing a movie that's 2 years old, a movie that's 1 year old, and a new release. Guess as long as people will pay they can do it.

The price is steep but then it is a first to show a trilogy like that back to back and the release the final piece to the trilogy.

I wished the Matrix would do this.. That would be nice. I am sure the theaters will make a ton in popcorn and drink sales considering it is a 6-8 hour viewing period.

$35 bucks seems a bit steep but if you are a fan, I am sure you'll fork over the cash.

just rented part 2 out at geo for the princely sum of 39 yen! did seem even more long winded than the first one... still hopefully theyll do the same offer next year so i can see the trilogy for only 120y!

best film marathons i saw were star trek 1-6 whilst munching down space cakes at the empire leicester square, and all night freddie krueger on k cider , then all night kronenberg on jamaica rum at the scala kings cross..

thanks to the popular american style cinema in stellar place, a good 6-10 cinemas are closing in sapporo this year.. one of the good fleapits in tanuki koji has fallen victim already..

I wouldn't sit through that boring crap even if they paid me 35 dollars.

That must have been pretty scary.

If any of you come across tickets for a similar release in Nipon, please be kind and send me a link or the info. Thanks.

heh i dunno what was scarier - crimes of the future, stereo or the audience..

rather than play the rather lame gba lotr games, perhaps this will make it over here..

then again, have yet to see a pinball machine here..
