I am in America, but am curious as to what the views of Kentaro Seagal are in Japan. Can anybody tell me what you think of him?

Thanks.

He is low-profile in Japan.
Hell, he's low-profile in the States since "Seamless" 1999 is his only US movie. ( "ne'er-do-well youngsters engage in illicit activities until the break of dawn in this seamy look at the rave culture"). I don't even remember him "Osaka Story" 1999, and "Day Dream" 2000. I suppose "The Bleep Brothers" 2001 didn't give him much promise, so he dropped out.

Refer to this fan site....l
Kentaro has hung up his acting hat. Kentaro is a student in the Oomotoschool named Baishojuku, where he has been learning the teachings and history of Oomoto and traditional Japanese arts.

'Oomoto (oor-moh-toh) This new religion stems from revelations received by an illiterate peasant woman Deguchi Nao. According to followers, Deguchi "acquired...healing and divinatory powers and recorded, in automatic writings" the teachings of the deity Ushitora.

In the 1920s, Oomoto membership was in the millions. Suppressed by the government in the 1920s - 30s, it reorganized in 1945, though at a loss of its former popularity. "It continues to preach religious tolerance, to foster ecumenical worship, and to assert the value of artistic expression as a spiritual practice." (HarperCollins Dictionary of Religion, p. 814.)

He certainly is low profile in the U.S. But I figured he would be more popular in Japan. So his father's fame did not have an affect on his career or his popularity? Did you see him in Bleep Brothers? I'm wondering if his acting was more natural since he was speaking his native tongue (vs. in Seamless).

Back in the thread Steven Seagal Joins The Yakuza, circa Nov. 30, 2003, I totally forgot about bad-mouthing Seagal about his Japanese ex-wife and kids.

Speaking of waruguchi/badmouthing the Seagals'...
Check out the famous Seagal movie, BLEEP BROTHERS most noted for the word "c**t" uttered dozens and dozens of times stars Kentaro Seagal the younger Bleep Brother, Tatsuo. The brothers form a duo, hoping to become the leading manzai comedy act in Japan...
